For the first time, Vietnam is hosting the esteemed Mr. World pageant, a prestigious event that began in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1996.

The competition, which runs from November 5 to 23, will showcase the talents and charm of contestants from around the world across various segments in the picturesque coastal cities of Vung Tau and Phan Thiet.

The participants will compete in diverse categories, such as Mr. Sport, Mr. Talent, National Costume, Top Model VBFF9, a Head-to-Head Challenge, and a closed-door interview, offering a well-rounded showcase of their personalities and skills.

One of the highlights of the competition is the opportunity for contestants to immerse themselves in the local culture and cuisine. During their time in Vung Tau, they were treated to a traditional Vietnamese meal, featuring a delectable array of dishes, including crispy fried freshwater shrimp wrapped in greens and the famous Hue-style steamed rice cakes. The contestants also enjoyed fresh rolls with shredded pork skin, a true delicacy, along with caramelized catfish in a clay pot, a dish that embodies the essence of Vietnamese cooking. The braised pork with eggs and stir-fried water spinach with garlic brought a balance of flavors to the table, while the crab soup with jute leaves left a lasting impression with its unique taste.

Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, vice-chairwoman of the Vung Tau People’s Committee, expressed her hopes that the contestants would not only compete but also embrace the rich and diverse culinary offerings of Vietnam. She added that the pageant serves as a platform to foster international friendship and cooperation, creating lasting connections beyond the competition.
