Can Tho City hosted a vibrant two-day cultural exchange event at Luu Huu Phuoc Park in Ninh Kieu District, celebrating the unique bond between Vietnam and South Korea. The festival, an annual occurrence since its inception in 2022, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout with 50 stalls showcasing the very best of both nations’ culture, tourism, cuisine, education, and trade opportunities.

Nguyen Thuc Hien, deputy chairman of the Can Tho administration, highlighted the event’s popularity among businesses and people, especially the youth, during the opening ceremony. Apart from the colorful stalls, the festival featured a dynamic K-Dance Klech performance, a summary of the K-pop Academy program, a culinary journey through traditional Vietnamese and Korean dishes, and engaging folk games from both countries.

A highlight of the event was the Vietnam-South Korea art exchange that spanned two enchanting evenings, bringing together artists from both countries. This cross-cultural dialogue fostered a deeper connection and understanding between the two nations.

Hien emphasized the importance of mutual respect and understanding in building empathy and trust between Vietnam and South Korea. He also noted that the festival strengthens the foundation for future collaborations, opening up a world of opportunities for businesses on both sides to thrive in diverse fields.

Hien also acknowledged South Korea’s significant contribution to foreign investment in the city, currently ranking third with 10 projects valued at nearly US$260 million. Among these, the Vietnam-South Korea Industrial Technology Incubator, established in 2015 with an investment of $21.13 million, stands as a shining example of the strong cooperation and mutual support between the two countries.

Shin Choong IL, the South Korean Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his admiration for the festival’s seamless blend of cultural identities. He assured that the consulate general would continue to foster the cooperative relationship between South Korea and Vietnam, with a particular focus on strengthening ties with Can Tho.

Consul General Shin also emphasized the importance of educational exchanges and cooperation, pledging to work towards enhancing student interactions between the two countries. This, he believes, will contribute to the development of high-quality human resources in Vietnam, benefiting both nations in the long run.
