At the opening ceremony, Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director-General of the International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, highlighted that this event commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia.

Hoa emphasized the special bond between the two nations’ film industries. Timeless Russian classics have captivated Vietnamese audiences, and Russia has played a pivotal role in nurturing generations of Vietnamese filmmakers, scriptwriters, and critics. This event celebrates this shared passion for cinema and the enduring friendship between our countries.

The three-day festival will showcase five remarkable films: “Dreamy Eyes,” “Bell Heather,” “Myth of Quan Tien,” “Peach Blossom, Pho, and Piano,” and “Me and Trinh.” These films delve into themes of independence, freedom, peace, and the enduring love for family, nation, and the arts. They reflect the richness and diversity of our cultural heritage and the power of cinema to transcend borders and unite audiences internationally.

Dmitry Davydenko, Director of the Department of Cinematography and Digital Development of Russia’s Ministry of Culture, praised the vibrant and unique perspective that Vietnamese cinema brings to the global film industry. He also emphasized the potential for collaborative film productions between our countries, aiming to create captivating content that resonates with Vietnamese, Russian, and international audiences alike.

Elza Antonova, General Director of Roskino, a government organization representing Russia’s audiovisual industry internationally, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam in the film industry. This includes exploring collaborative opportunities in film production and promoting cultural exchange through the power of cinema.
