The Ikebana International Charity Fair 2024: A Vibrant Cultural Extravaganza
On December 10, Tokyo played host to a spectacular event – the Ikebana International Charity Fair 2024. This special occasion, a collaboration between the Tokyo chapter of Ikebana International and the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, aimed to raise funds and offer support to those affected by natural disasters in Japan.

The event attracted notable figures, including Yoshiko Ishiba, spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, representatives from over 30 embassies, and 3,000 guests, all united in their support for a worthy cause.
The highlight of the fair was the stunning display of Ikebana masterpieces from over 30 Japanese floral art schools. The centerpiece arrangement, featuring lotus flowers – a symbol of Vietnam, was a breathtaking tribute to the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Thai Thu Hong, spouse of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan and Chairperson of the fair, expressed her honor and pride in being a part of this meaningful event, especially as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
“The fair, and cultural exchanges like this, bring us all closer together, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our diverse cultures,” she said.
The Vietnamese booth was a vibrant showcase of traditional handicrafts, cultural attire, and delicious Vietnamese spices. It offered a unique and captivating glimpse into the country’s rich cultural heritage, with the iconic ao dai capturing the hearts of many visitors.

Hong extended her gratitude to the participating embassies and expressed her confidence that the fair had left a lasting impression of the cultural richness of all nations involved, particularly Vietnam and Japan.
The Embassy of Vietnam in Japan added a special touch with traditional water puppetry, monochord solos, and folk songs, offering a unique and enchanting experience for all attendees.
