Dang Quang Tu, Chairman of the Da Lat City People’s Committee, pledged to host a series of international music events over the next three years. This commitment was made at the 2024 Annual Conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, held in Braga, Portugal, from July 1 to 3.

According to Tu, the city, in collaboration with Ernesto Ottone R., UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, has outlined a number of international initiatives centered around music. These include a Southeast Asia gong festival, aimed at preserving and celebrating the gong culture, as well as showcasing the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s Central Highlands region.

The gong festival will be an annual event, featuring gong artists from various cities across Southeast Asia. In addition, the city plans to introduce the Lang Biang International Music Fest, which will become one of the flagship cultural events in Da Lat, alongside the already renowned flower festival.

Held biennially, the Lang Biang music festival will be the largest of its kind in the city, attracting local and international entertainment and art service providers. Furthermore, the ‘Sound of Forests’ program will be an annual fixture, using music to promote sustainability and awareness.

This event will bring together singers and artists from the Asia-Pacific and African regions, fostering a diverse and cultural exchange.
