The adventures of Nguyen Ngoc Minh, 29, his wife, Tran Thanh Thao, 28, and their two-year-old daughter, Nguyen Khanh An, have captivated netizens across Vietnam. The young family from Ho Chi Minh City has been documenting their journeys across the country, sharing stunning images and stories of their unique camping trips.
Minh, a freelancer, shared that he and his wife both work remotely, allowing them the flexibility to travel frequently. One of their most memorable trips was to Da Lat, a picturesque city in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam.

A particular image from this trip, captured by Minh using a drone, has gone viral on social media. It depicts the family lying on the grass at a camping site, surrounded by their belongings and their trusty pickup truck. The photo perfectly captures the essence of their adventures, combining nature, family, and exploration.
“With each trip, we learn and adapt,” Minh shared. “We’ve invested in portable, lightweight gear that can easily fit in our mini-truck. It’s a balance between being prepared and staying mobile.” He added that their packing list has evolved since the birth of their daughter, including warm clothes, cooking utensils, and foldable furniture.
Minh’s attention to detail and preparedness paid off during an incident in Vietnam’s northwest region. While navigating a narrow road, one of the pickup truck’s wheels slipped into a hole near an abyss. Thanks to his quick thinking and specialized tools, he was able to safely resolve the issue.

When asked about essential items for their trips, Minh recommended lightweight, foldable designs. He emphasized the importance of a high-quality tent that can be installed on their vehicle’s roof, providing a comfortable and secure sleeping space. Solar energy chargers are also a must-have, ensuring their electronic devices, including video recorders and laptops, stay charged for work and documentation.
The choice of a pickup truck for their travels was a deliberate one, Minh explained. It suits their small family well and has a high chassis, making it ideal for navigating challenging terrain. Over the past two years, they have explored over 50 provinces and cities in Vietnam, with plans to venture further afield once international travel procedures become more feasible.
Minh shared a particular affinity for Vietnam’s northwest localities, where they have found deep inspiration and made lasting impressions. “The remote mountainous villages have taught us about the resilience and hardships of the local people,” he reflected.

Thao, Minh’s wife, is no stranger to travel herself. Prior to their marriage, she had explored over 15 European countries solo. The couple shares a passion for exploration and a desire to expose their daughter to different cultures and experiences. “Traveling with children is a wonderful way to foster self-reliance and good habits,” Thao remarked. “It also creates a unique bond and connection between parents and their kids.”
Minh and Thao started bringing their daughter along on short trips when she was just three months old, gradually building up to longer journeys. Minh’s diverse skill set, including marketing, cinematography, writing, and brand development, has provided a strong financial foundation for their adventures.
The Minh family’s story is an inspiring testament to the power of exploration and the importance of family. Their unique approach to travel, combining work, play, and a deep respect for nature and culture, has captured the imagination of many. As they continue to document their journeys, they leave a trail of beautiful memories and a reminder that adventure is always within reach.
