Both sites were awarded recognition by the United Nations’ cultural body in 1999.

Quang Nam’s plan also seeks to honor the 10th anniversary of Cu Lao Cham’s designation as a biosphere reserve.

A series of events are scheduled for May, September, and December 2019. These events include anniversary ceremonies, a conference evaluating the conservation efforts of Hoi An and My Son in the past two decades, and a workshop focusing on the role of local communities in preserving Quang Nam province’s heritage sites.

In the historic town of Hoi An, there will be a photography exhibition showcasing Hoi An’s development over the past 20 years, as well as displays of local handicrafts and a exhibition featuring books about the world heritage town.

In Duy Xuyen district, where My Son Sanctuary is located, there will be performances inspired by My Son, along with displays of photographs and artifacts from the My Son complex.

Furthermore, a variety of sporting and entertainment activities are planned. This includes a beauty pageant for participants from regions with heritage sites, as well as the VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup, which will take place in the province.
