Researcher Nguyen Hai Lien was born in Quang Nam province, the homeland of Bai Choi art. With over 30 years of non-stop research, he was honoured with many notable orders, medals, certificates of merit by the State.
He decided to donate the entire 30-year research project on Cham and Raglai culture to the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Art Studies.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasised that throughout the 4,000 years of history, culture is considered a fundamental strength in building solidarity and defending the nation, adding that cultural identity is one of the core elements that make up the national identity.
Therefore, promoting folklore cultural heritages in the modern period is not only to preserve the original values but also to develop more good values to enrich the national spiritual life, he noted.
The Government leader highly appreciated the great dedication and contributions made by researcher Nguyen Hai Lien to the cause of enriching the cultural treasures of Vietnam.
The Government will pay due attention to preserve, develop and disseminate this dedicated work among people.
