Ho Chi Minh Park in Santiago upgraded

NDO – The Vietnamese Embassy in Chile in collaboration with Cerro Navia district in Santiago organised a ceremony to mark the upgrading of a park named after President Ho Chi Minh in the district, on December 19.

The ceremony was attended by head of Cerro Navia district Mauro Tamayo Rozas; Director of the Department of Asia-Pacific Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Ambassador Claudio Rojas; President of the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute Patricia Arbazúa; mother of former President Michele Bachelet, Angela Jeria; representatives of the Communist Party of Chile, former Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Claudio de Negri; Heads of diplomatic missions abroad of a number countries such as Cuba, El Salvador, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia; along with Chilean friends and the Vietnamese community in Chile.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnam Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son reviewed the history of Ho Chi Minh Park’s establishment and development in Santiago since 1969; he noted his appreciation of how the par has been preserved by the people of Cerro Navia.

The Vietnamese diplomat thanked the Cerro Navia administration, the Geleximco group of Vietnam, who ensured the project will be implemented as scheduled.

For his part, Head of Cerro Navia district Mauro Tamayo Rozas stressed that the park is a symbol of Chilean people’s sentiments towards Vietnamese people and President Ho Chi Minh.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile collaborated with the President Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace to organise a photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh at the administrative headquarters of Cerro Navia. The exhibition, showcasing more than 40 precious photo documents on President Ho Chi Minh, is expected to contribute to introduce President Ho Chi Minh’s life and enhance the mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, especially of the younger generation of Chile.

The photos runs until the end of December 26.
