The Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 promises to be a vibrant celebration of the city’s iconic flower and its cultural significance. With a diverse range of activities, the festival will showcase the beauty and versatility of the lotus, as well as local One Commune-One Product (OCOP) specialties.

A highlight of the festival will be a workshop focused on conserving and promoting Vietnamese lotus heritage. Tay Ho district, known for its picturesque West Lake, will also debut a dedicated center for OCOP product introduction and sales. Art installations inspired by lotuses, photographic exhibitions, and a cycling event with an expected 7,000 participants will further enhance the festival’s appeal.

Local farmers, such as Chu Duc Trong, have been diligently preparing their lotus ponds to ensure a lush and vibrant display for visitors. They are pruning and maintaining the ponds to offer an immersive experience for guests, complete with decorative objects for memorable photo opportunities.

The festival holds special significance for lotus pond owners, as it provides a unique platform to showcase the renowned West Lake lotus and its derivatives. From lotus tea to sugar-coated lotus seeds, these artisans are eager to share their traditional crafts with festival-goers. One such artisan, Luu Thi Hien of the famous Hien Xiem lotus tea brand, will be offering her unique take on this delicate beverage.

Hien shared that her family has a long-standing tradition of tea-making, passed down through generations, and they supply large quantities of lotus tea to the market annually. The festival, she believes, will not only promote the exquisite taste and health benefits of Hanoi lotus products but also encourage the preservation of this ancient craft.

According to the Tay Ho district People’s Committee, the festival will feature a diverse range of lotus-derived products, including bulbs, silk, sweet soup, sticky rice, sausages, decorative items, and handicrafts. Local enterprises are gearing up to present their unique offerings, ensuring an attractive and memorable experience for all who attend.

Vice Chairwoman of the committee, Bui Thi Lan Phuong, emphasized that the Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 will not only delight locals and tourists but also reaffirm the lotus’s cultural and spiritual value in the lives of Vietnamese people. It will serve as a testament to the flower’s beauty and its potential to drive economic development.
