Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia’s Federal Assembly, marked the opening of the event by reflecting on significant moments in the history of Russia-Vietnam relations. He noted that the festival is a part of the build-up to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, which will be celebrated in 2025.
“We are hopeful that this festival, encompassing art performances, a photo exhibition, Vietnamese film screenings, and Ao Dai fashion showcases, will deepen Russian appreciation for Vietnamese culture,” Yatskin expressed. “Ultimately, we believe this will further enhance the strong bond between our countries.”
Nguyen Van Hung, Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, emphasized the festival’s role in projecting an image of Vietnam as a safe and friendly nation to the international community.
The “Vietnamese Cultural Days in Russia” is set to grace Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Ulianov from July 2 to July 7. The pinnacle of the festival will be the presentation of five acclaimed Vietnamese films, boasting both national and international accolades.
A photo exhibition, showcasing the beauty of Vietnam’s landscapes and its people, will be accompanied by musical performances featuring traditional instruments such as the bamboo flute, T’rung, and monochord. The graceful Ao Dai fashion shows will also be a highlight, offering a unique glimpse into Vietnamese cultural elegance.
