Hoan Kiem Lake Becomes Vibrant with Hanoi Autumn Carnival

Thousands of spectators were mesmerized by the captivating performances of street art at the Hanoi Autumn Festival on October 1. Puppetry, lion dance and other art forms enthralled the public with a unique display of culture.

The Hanoi Autumn Carnival, a vibrant and colorful event, took place on October 1st as part of the Hanoi Autumn Festival. The festivities unfolded in the bustling pedestrian area surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake.

A morning parade saw participation from up to 1,500 individuals comprising municipal civil servants, students, members of art groups, and craftsmen from various parts of the city.

The festival, held under the captivating theme “Bright Colors of Autumn,” showcased mesmerizing performances by talented art groups. Adding a charming touch to the event were women dressed in traditional long robes, known as “ao dai.”

The carnival commenced amidst great excitement, featuring a captivating lion and dragon dance performed by a renowned troupe from Thanh Oai District. This mesmerizing spectacle involved 600 skilled individuals manipulating 30 magnificent dragons and unicorns, accompanied by 30 talented drummers. Each of these symbolic elements paid homage to the unique districts and villages within our city. Additionally, the event showcased enchanting songs and dances celebrating the beauty of Hanoi’s autumn season.

The event kicked off with a captivating procession featuring various exhilarating performances. The parade showcased a beautifully adorned flower float from Me Linh District, symbolizing the regions renowned for floriculture beyond Hanoi’s borders. Adding to the spectacle were the graceful presence of young individuals dressed in elegant ao dai attire, riding bicycles and tricycles festooned with enchanting floral decorations. The procession also saw participation from esteemed Hanoi tourism companies who delighted the crowd with energetic flash mob dances.

The event featured a catwalk presentation titled “Abundant Golden Season” showcasing the talents of professional models. Additionally, an artistic dance performance called “Abundant Golden Season” gracefully portrayed the scene of rice harvesting. The cultural highlight of the event was the captivating show “Abundant Harvest of Tinh Hoa Bac Bo (Quintessence of Tonkin)”, showcasing the rich culture of the region.

Artisans from My Duc district showcased their traditional puppet shows, while those from Dong Anh district assembled and flew exquisite flute kites. Additionally, a mesmerizing gong performance was delivered by 110 talented Muong individuals from Quoc Oai and Thach That districts.

According to Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, the deputy director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency, the Hanoi Autumn Carnival is the key attraction of the Hanoi Autumn Festival. The carnival showcases an exciting array of events and activities for visitors to enjoy.

The program has been meticulously planned and executed with the generous support of local districts, organizations, and tourism establishments.

The Hanoi Autumn Carnival captivated a significant number of spectators for an impressive hour and a half duration.
