The opening night at Lam Vien square, which attracted 15,000 visitors and local residents, also featured performances on the beauty of the land and people in Da Lat, as well as the city’s signature products of flowers, silk and tea.
Addressing the event, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan congratulated remarkable socio-economic achievements gained by Da Lat city authorities and its people over the past years, particularly the positive development of agriculture and floriculture sectors.
The top legislator spoke highly of the city’s success in international integration as well as its proud results concerning the safeguarding of the natural landscape, architectural constructions, and cultural values.
She described Da Lat Flower Festival as a cultural highlight of the city which has made positive impacts on boosting floriculture sector of the city.
Chairman of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee Doan Van Viet said that over its six editions, the Flower Festival has been established served as a unique cultural venue and an attractive tourist destination for visitors while contributing to advertising the brand of Da Lat flowers and its agricultural products to the world.
A floral space around Xuan Huong lake, a fair showcasing flowers, vegetables and agricultural products of Da Lat, and a photo and painting exhibition also kicked off yesterday under the framework of the festival.
Under the theme ‘Da Lat Flower – Essence of a Good Land’, this year’s festival features 16 major events and over 30 supporting events in Da Lat city, Bao Loc city and other places in Lam Dong province.
