A master chef will take gourmets in Hanoi on a culinary journey through Malaysia with an immersive live cooking demonstration. The chef will showcase the vibrant flavors and colors of traditional Malaysian cuisine, offering a unique and interactive experience for food enthusiasts.

Hanoi’s food connoisseurs are in for a treat as they get to indulge in a plethora of Malaysian delights crafted by the talented Chef Azlan Juri during the Beautiful Taste of Malaysia Food Week.

Presented by the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Vietnam, the event will take place at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel from September 12 to 16. It promises to be a celebration of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage, traditional culture, and the 67th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Kicking off with a luncheon at Café Promenade on September 12, the event will be graced by the presence of Dato’ Tan Yang, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Vietnam. Chef Azlan Juri, a renowned Malaysian culinary master, will headline the culinary experience with live demonstrations of traditional Malaysian dishes.

Attendees will also be treated to a special performance by a Malaysian cultural troupe, showcasing the vibrant music, captivating dance, and rich traditions of Malaysia, offering a glimpse into the country’s cultural heritage.

The menu for the week includes mouth-watering dishes such as rendang (slow-cooked beef or chicken), satay (skewered grilled chicken or mutton with peanut sauce), rojak (a unique mixed salad), chicken/lamb curry, cendol (a refreshing shaved ice dessert with green beans), and char kway teow (seafood or meat stir-fried noodles).

Each dish is a flavor explosion, but it also narrates a story of Malaysia’s diverse culinary history, where Malay, Indian, and Chinese influences seamlessly intertwine.

During this culinary week, guests will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in traditional Malaysian culture by witnessing captivating performances by Malaysian dancers.

As stated by Firdauz Bin Othman, the Malaysian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Malaysia share not just a border but also a strong bond of friendship and collaboration in various fields, including tourism and culture.

“This Food Week is a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between our nations. We believe that through these cultural exchange initiatives, the relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to flourish and strengthen,” he added.

The Beautiful Taste of Malaysia Food Week will also be hosted at the Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel from September 6 to 16 and at the Lesung Saigon Restaurant, a haven for Malaysian cuisine, from September 11 to 16.
