A Brief Look at Danish Crown Prince Couple’s Visit Day Two

The Crown Prince couple and the Danish business delegation are having various engaging programs in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ha Nam, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong.

Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik and a delegation of Danish businesses are visiting the northern port city of Hai Phong to boost cooperation in renewable energy development and effective use of energy, VNA reported.

During a reception for the Danish guests on November 2, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung introduced the city’s potential and strengths, saying that the city has made considerable strides in socio-economic development, national defence-security, external affairs and transport infrastructure, making it attractive to FDI flows.

He believed that the visit to the city will contribute to tightening Vietnam-Denmark comprehensive partnership, thus opening up new cooperation opportunities between Hai Phong and Danish partners and laying a foundation for their practical cooperation in the future.

Frederik, for his part, affirmed that Denmark always regards Vietnam as a bilateral partner and an increasingly important player in global efforts against climate change.

He attended a trade and investment promotion event between Denmark and Hai Phong in offshore wind power, an offshore wind power simulation for children at Doi Rong international tourist area, and visited Hai Phong Port and industrial zones where offshore wind power is to be used in the future.

During the event, Tung said with favorable geographical location, a 125km coastline and synchronous development of transport system, seaport infrastructure, support industries and services, Hai Phong is well-positioned to develop various areas, including offshore wind power.

With the goal of becoming a modern, smart and sustainable industrial city, Hai Phong wants to seek more solutions regarding sustainable energy to contribute to its common development, he said.

On the same day, the Crown Princess of Denmark attended the workshop ‘Build the Change’ hosted by the LEGO Foundation in Ha Nam province. Vietnamese children at the workshop will use LEGO® bricks and other creative materials to express their ideas & solutions for a greener world tomorrow.

The Crown Princess also visited the Xuan Thanh cement plant where Danish technology plays a crucial role in reducing energy usage.

The Crown Princess then attended the Vietnam – Denmark networking event on energy efficiency. She later participated in the workshop ‘Build The Change’ hosted by the LEGO foundation in Thanh Nghi elementary school in Ha Nam. The Crown Princess actively engaged with the participating kids and was impressed by their innovative and endearing ideas.

Earlier, in Hanoi, the official visit of the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess of Denmark began with the official welcome ceremony hosted by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan at the Presidential Palace and followed by a courtesy meeting with President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The official visit to Vietnam by the Crown Prince couple to Vietnam is part of the 50th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam, which has been delayed one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Danish Royal Family has close roots in Vietnam as the late Prince spent several of his earliest and adolescent years in Vietnam. The Crown Prince Couple visited Vietnam for the first time together. The Queen and the late Prince in 2009 during a state visit.

The Crown Prince came back to Vietnam in 2011 during the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam.
