Propaganda painting contest for ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 launched

NDO – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in Hanoi, on January 10, launched a propaganda painting contest for the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 with the theme “Cohesive and Responsive”.

The contest was organised as part of the implementation of the master plan for communications-culture ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 of the sub-committee regarding communication and cultural affairs.

Accordingly, professional artists, amateur painters, Vietnamese citizens and Vietnamese living abroad can enter the contest.

Paintings should be presented on size 54 cm x 79cm paper and sent to the Department of Grassroots Level Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at No. 51-53 Ngo Quyen Street, Hanoi, no later than February 28, 2020. The entries must have been recently created and not been submitted to other competitions, as well as not disseminated in any way.

The entries will use the logo template and slogans for the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020 provided by the organising board.

Letters used on the entries must use both Vietnamese and English. Each author can submit one or more works to participate in the contest.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vu Viet Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Level Culture, said that 2020 is a crucial as well as meaningful year for ASEAN and Vietnam in particular.

He emphasised that with the theme “Cohesive and Responsive”, the contest is expected to raise awareness among people regarding ASEAN; while upholding the achievements and marks of Vietnam in the role of ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020, as well as build an image of an ASEAN Chair who is responsible, holds dialogue and cooperation, maintains principles but also flexibly handles situations and creates a good impression with international friends regarding Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020.

The organizing board is expected to present a certificate with the prizes including one first prize (worth VND 15 million), two second prizes (worth VND 8 million per prize), three third prizes (worth VND5 million per prize), 10 consolation prizes (worth VND 2 million per prize) and a movement prize of VND8 million for entries that have many artists and works participating in the contest.
