At a press conference in Hanoi on April 5, the organising board announced that the festival will introduce 16 time-honoured crafts, including jewellery making, embroidery, bronze casting, calligraphy, kite making, and incense making, among others.

The event will draw the participation of more than 350 artisans from 62 craft villages in cities and provinces across the country, together with nearly 70 international artisans from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China and Brazil.

A range of activities will be staged during the event, including an Ao Dai festival, a ceremony commemorating the founders of crafts, a cuisine programme, a hot air balloon festival, a flower festival, and a music show featuring popular singers from the Republic of Korea.

Spaces will be set up to introduce the traditional products of the participating countries, as well as lotus-made products, brocade, silk and Vietnamese Ao Dai, providing visitors with same-day tailoring services for Ao Dai.

Meanwhile, the southern bank of Huong (Perfume River) will turn into a pedestrian space to join Chu Van An, Pham Ngu Lao, and Vo Thi Sau walking streets to host fascinating cultural and entertainment activities.

Speaking at the press conference, Chairman of Hu City People’s Committee and Head of the festival’s organising board, Nguyen Van Thanh, stressed that the festival is an important event which will benefit local artisans and craft villages.

It will also help to promote traditional culture and typical tourist products of Hue city to international friends, contributing to boosting the city’s sustainable tourism development, he said.
