Hanoi’s August Revolution Square resonated with the timeless tunes of the legendary Swedish band ABBA during a captivating one-and-a-half-hour concert on October 12. The music band “Arrival from Sweden” took the stage, performing ABBA’s immortal songs and transporting the audience back in time to the glorious days of disco. The lively set list included iconic songs such as “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!,” “Money, Money, Money,” “Fernando,” and, of course, the unforgettable “Mamma Mia.”

One of the concert’s most memorable moments came when foreign singers took to the stage in elegant áo dài to perform ABBA’s classic “Dancing Queen,” accompanied by a performance from the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club. The audience, particularly the youth of Hanoi, enthusiastically applauded and cheered throughout the performance.
Local musician Giang Son shared her excitement, stating that ABBA’s music has been an integral part of the youth culture for generations of Vietnamese music lovers. She expressed her joy in dancing and singing along with the Swedish artists, who showed their appreciation for Vietnamese culture by donning the beautiful áo dài for the final song, creating a charming and memorable farewell.

Prior to the concert, the Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club organized a cultural exchange and presented the band with unique gifts of traditional Vietnamese áo dài. With a branch in Sweden, the club actively encourages foreigners to experience the beauty and elegance of this iconic garment.
Arrival From Sweden brought the “The Music of ABBA” tour to Vietnam, performing in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Ninh Binh, and concluding with the final concert in Hanoi. The band has an impressive track record, having performed with over 100 symphony orchestras in more than 70 countries, and they continue to delight audiences worldwide.
The concert in Hanoi was a special celebration, commemorating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden. It served to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations and promote cultural exchange, leaving a lasting impression on all those who attended.
