With “Green Initiatives” as its theme, the contest inspires students to delve into environmental and climate challenges. Additionally, it offers them a platform to share their insights, thoughts, and visions on safeguarding the environment and natural resources.
Participants are encouraged to unleash their creativity and translate their green initiatives into artworks. Their paintings can showcase their ideas on biodiversity, energy conservation, renewable energy, emission reduction, eco-friendly lifestyles, plastic-free living, wildlife preservation, and more.

Ambassador Nicolai Prytz acknowledges that while Vietnamese children’s paintings may not instantly bring about drastic changes, they offer a powerful means for them to express their thoughts and concerns. Through their art, they convey a message to adults about their perspective on climate challenges and our collective ability to improve the situation.
“I am excited to witness the creativity of Vietnamese children through their amazing paintings. We highly value and appreciate your ideas,” expressed Ambassador Nicolai Prytz.
Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, principal of Nguyen Sieu School, shared that with the “Green Initiatives” theme, she hopes students will spread a message about safeguarding our planet. This empowers students to make tangible contributions to ongoing environmental restoration efforts. She extended her best wishes to the participants, encouraging them to create unique artworks that convey the importance of environmental protection to their peers, families, and the wider community.

Le Ngoc Tuan, vice chairman of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, emphasized the significance of this year’s theme. It resonates as Denmark and Vietnam unite to protect our green planet from critical challenges, including climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss. The recent devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi on Vietnamese provinces and cities underscores these challenges.
Le Ngoc Tuan, through this contest, encourages students, as future stewards of the country and the planet, to recognize that even small green initiatives can make a difference in environmental protection. He invites them to draw inspiration from their understanding of the planet and the collaborative efforts between Vietnam and Denmark to address these pressing issues.
The competition is open to all Vietnamese primary and secondary school students. Submissions are due by December 20. Winners will be announced during a ceremony in Hanoi, marking the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
The competition’s jury will comprise renowned painters from Kim Dong Publishing House and the Thieu nien tien phong (Young Pioneers) and Nhi Dong (Children) newspapers. Representatives from the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA) and the Embassy of Denmark will also be present.
Awards include one grand prize, two first prizes, three second prizes, and six third prizes. The grand prize winner will receive a tablet and a LEGO set. First, second, and third prize winners will also be awarded LEGO sets, and there will be 50 encouragement prizes for individuals and two group awards from the organizers.
