The iconic La Traviata is set to grace the stage of the Hanoi Opera House on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of August. This captivating opera, composed by the legendary Giuseppe Verdi, unfolds in three acts.

At the heart of the story is the complex relationship between Alfredo Germont, a young man from a prominent Provençal family, and Violetta Valéry, a wealthy prostitute. Their love story is not without its challenges, as Alfredo’s father, Giorgio Germont, intervenes to protect the family’s reputation, ultimately leading to a series of misunderstandings and tragic consequences. Violetta’s character is a poignant portrayal of an outsider seeking love and happiness in a society that judges her harshly.

The plot takes a tragic turn as the truth about Violetta’s identity is revealed, leading to a heartbreaking conclusion. However, La Traviata offers more than just a love story; it paints a vivid picture of upper-class society in 19th-century France, providing a glimpse into the lives and struggles of the era’s elite.

VNOB’s production of La Traviata promises to be a memorable experience, with the talented soprano To Loan, portraying Violetta, delivering a breathtaking performance of the aria Ah fors’e lui che l’anima. The role of Alfredo will be brought to life by the exceptionally skilled young artist Truong Linh.
