Hanoi’s tourism sector is thriving, with an estimated 11.55 million visitors in the first five months of 2024, reflecting a 14% increase year-on-year, according to the Hanoi Tourism Department.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Department of Tourism, highlighted the city’s rebound in tourism, stating that several industry development goals have been surpassed.
A notable surge in international tourism, with a 51.9% increase, alongside a 23% rise in total tourism revenue, underscores Hanoi’s allure as a destination.
Hotel occupancy rates for May 2024 held steady, reaching 64.7%, a slight dip from April but a 1% improvement year-on-year.
Looking ahead, the first six months of 2024 are projected to see an average hotel occupancy rate of 63.9%, marking a 2.8% increase.
Hanoi’s tourism excellence is further underscored by a string of prestigious awards, including Asia’s Leading City Destination and Asia’s Leading City Break Destination for 2023, as well as recognition from TripAdvisor in the World’s Leading Destination and World’s Most Attractive Culinary Destination categories for 2024.

Dang Huong Giang emphasized their collaboration with local businesses to market Hanoi tourism on digital platforms, enhancing its visibility.
The introduction of new tourism products has also proven effective in luring visitors and enhancing the city’s competitive edge. Hanoi offers inter-regional routes and convenient services connecting the city center to suburban districts, such as the Hanoi Center – Thanh Oai – Thanh Tri – Thuong Tin – Phu Xuyen route.
Additionally, night tours to iconic destinations like the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison Relics, and the Vietnam Literature Museum have garnered positive feedback from both domestic and international tourists.
Hanoi has also fostered inter-provincial tourism cooperation, developing routes such as the spiritual-cultural route linking Hanoi with Ha Nam and Ninh Binh, and the Hanoi-Son La and Hanoi-Lao Cai-Lai Chau routes.
