Alice Nguyen from Ho Chi Minh City and Tran Dac Phuc from Hanoi are the fortunate beneficiaries of the 2024 “Fast Track to Cannes Market” program. Alice, who heads distribution at Skyline Media, and Tran Dac Phuc, the founder and director of Complex 01, are set to embark on a transformative journey.
Skyline Media, established in 2014, has made its mark in domestic distribution and international sales. With over 70 Vietnamese titles under its belt, the company made waves with the distribution of the 2023 Palme d’Or winner, “Anatomy of a Fall,” opening new doors for art house cinema in Vietnam.
Complex 01, slated to open its doors in 2019, is a hub for interdisciplinary connections and artistic exchange, with a focus on visual arts, contemporary music, and fostering the creative economy. Their expansion into cinema is a natural progression, and their presence at Cannes will undoubtedly enhance their offerings.
Vietnam’s participation in the Cannes Film Market is a testament to the country’s growing presence in the film industry. This marks the third time the country has sent representatives, providing a platform to discuss export, distribution, and international promotion strategies with French and foreign professionals within the prestigious setting of the Cannes Festival.
As part of their experience, they will be hosted by Guillaume Esmiol, director of the Marché du Film, to reflect on their journey and the impact on Vietnam’s film industry.
