Tran Thi Bich Van, the president of ASC 2024, stated that the event on January 26th was a part of a program aimed at promoting Vietnamese culture to ASEAN and international friends in the host country.
The ASC’s mission is to affirm the identity of each ASEAN member nation while fostering solidarity and friendship among members, focusing on socio-cultural development, and enhancing understanding between ASEAN members and international friends in the US.
Van emphasized that the ASC has always been dedicated to showcasing Vietnamese culture, cuisine, and traditional handicraft villages to American and international friends. They have also collaborated to organize various events to strengthen friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding among ASEAN member nations, including the ASEAN Family Day, ASEAN Cultural Day, and the ASEAN Fair.
In addition, the Vietnamese spouses association in Washington D.C has been supporting the foreign affairs activities of the Vietnamese embassy and representative agencies in the US. The association continuously strives to promote the roles of each spouse and enhance the image of Vietnam among local and international friends, Van added.
As the Chair of ASC 2024, they plan to organize several cultural promotion activities such as cuisine showcases, traditional Ao Dai fashion shows, introducing unique customs, and highlighting the beauty of craft villages and traditional products, in hopes of captivating the hearts of spectators.
