During the ceremony, Hoi An Chairman Nguyen Van Son mentioned that the city has been recognized as a top cultural destination by various reputable websites. Hoi An possesses a wide range of intangible cultural heritages, including trade villages, handicrafts, and folk arts, in addition to its diverse and unique architectural complex.

Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the Hoi An Municipal People’s Committee, also emphasized the city’s ongoing efforts to preserve traditional craft villages.
Currently, there are five traditional craft villages with nearly 658 small businesses and 1,710 business households operating in the crafts and folk arts sector. Approximately 4,000 workers directly earn an average income ranging from VND 85 million (US$3,500) to nearly VND 100 million per year from crafts and folk arts, according to Dtinews.
Lanh believes that joining the UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network is a testament to Hoi An’s commitment to sustainable development based on local resources. The city’s leader, the Hoi An Municipal People’s Committee, emphasized that this is also an opportunity for Hoi An to further integrate into the global community.
