During the meeting, the Chairman of the Association emphasized the objective of enhancing collaboration between Osaka prefecture and Vietnamese regions. He affirmed that this visit to the three major cities in Vietnam, conducted on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations, will be a valuable opportunity to strengthen the ties between Vietnam and Japan.
The Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Association of Osaka prefecture expressed his hope that Osaka could build stronger relationships with universities in Hanoi to promote people-to-people exchanges. He also wished to receive support from the Hanoi People’s Council for future coordinated activities.
Vice Chairman Pham Qui Tien of the Hanoi People’s Council stated that 2023 marks an important milestone in the Vietnam-Japan relationship. The extensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries continues to be strongly implemented with depth and a high level of reliability. Tien also mentioned that 2023 will witness many meaningful commemorative activities that contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries, as well as between Hanoi and Japanese localities, including Osaka prefecture.

Tien also emphasized that Japan is currently the leading foreign investor in Hanoi through many prominent enterprises, which has had positive impacts on the capital’s economic growth and development. Cultural exchanges are also vibrant, with the city witnessing numerous impressive activities that attract the attention and participation of its residents.
Recognizing the important role of the Association, Vice Chairman Pham Qui Tien of the Hanoi People’s Council expressed his appreciation for the Association’s activities, which have made significant contributions to the relationship between the people of both countries, including the people of Hanoi. He emphasized that the Hanoi government places great importance on people-to-people exchanges and expressed his hope that Chairman Wada Kenji and the Association will continue to promote their role as a friendship bridge, further enhancing the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, as well as the friendship cooperation between Hanoi and Japanese localities, including Osaka, making it more profound, practical, and effective.
During the meeting, the delegates of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Association of Osaka prefecture introduced the Osaka Kansai International Exhibition scheduled to be held in 2025. The exhibition, with the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” aims to encourage global cooperation in creating sustainable societies in line with the United Nations’ goals. The Association expressed their expectation for the participation of Hanoi delegates in the event.
