The Embassy of El Salvador in Vietnam, one of the first two embassies opened by the country in Southeast Asia, is set to be inaugurated. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received El Salvador’s Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco on February 14 and expressed Vietnam’s commitment to fostering friendship and multifaceted cooperation with El Salvador. The Prime Minister praised El Salvador’s efforts in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and its socio-economic development under President Nayib Bukele’s leadership. He also welcomed Tinoco’s visit to Vietnam as El Salvador’s Foreign Minister and the opening of the Embassy of El Salvador in Vietnam, which is expected to strengthen bilateral relations. The Prime Minister proposed that the two countries continue to enhance their political consultation mechanism, collaborate at international organizations and forums, and facilitate trade, particularly in key Vietnamese goods such as agricultural and aquatic products. Additionally, he suggested identifying areas of economic complementarity and building a favorable legal framework for trade and investment. Minister Tinoco congratulated Vietnam on its economic achievements and expressed El Salvador’s desire to elevate its relations with Vietnam. She also pledged to work towards implementing the Prime Minister’s proposals and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

On the same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco reached consensus on enhancing bilateral cooperation. They agreed to increase the exchange of delegations, consolidate cooperation mechanisms, and organize political consultations at the deputy foreign minister level. The two countries will also work towards fostering collaboration in economy, trade, investment, agriculture, garment-textile, electronic components, tourism, and fisheries. Minister Son commended El Salvador’s opening of its embassy in Vietnam as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties. He expressed Vietnam’s interest in deepening cooperation with El Salvador and proposed close coordination and mutual support at international organizations and forums. Minister Tinoco affirmed El Salvador’s commitment to boosting relations with Vietnam and highlighted the significance of the Embassy of El Salvador in Vietnam in promoting bilateral relations in various fields. She agreed on the need for close coordination and cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral levels, contributing to global challenges.
