Ngo Pham Tran (Vietnamese in Taiwan, China) and Steve Bui (Vietnamese in Japan) made the donation to the Central “For the Poor” fund.
Their article, named “From regional development plans to organize national development space” was published in VietnamTimes and won the “Excellent work of Overseas Vietnamese authors” at the 7th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, in 2022.
In granting the donation, Ngo Pham Tran, Chairman of the Taiwan-Vietnam Economic Association represented the authors to express that the donation stands for overseas Vietnamese sentiment and wishes to support the poor to overcome difficulties.

Dang Thanh Phuong, Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Deparment, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said Ngo Pham Tran and Steve Bui’s success at the award is significant, showing an increasing interest of overseas Vietnamese for their homeland, making them an important resource to positively contribute to the cause of national construction and defense.
In thanking the two Vietnamese expats, Dang Thanh Phuong said, in difficulties and tribulations, the tradition of solidarity, mutual love, and affection, “good leaves cover torn leaves”, is even more clearly demonstrated by the noble gestures of Vietnamese living worldwide.

He also affirmed that the cooperation and support of the author group provide a great source of encouragement for the poor throughout the country, demonstrating the overseas Vietnamese spirit of solidarity and sentiment toward the country.
Dang Thanh Phuong pledged that the donation would be distributed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to the poor in an open and transparent manner. He expressed his wishes that overseas Vietnamese continue to accompany the Fatherland Front to support the poor in the coming time.
