Borussia Dortmund brings star players to Vietnam for friendly match
A delegation of German football club Borussia Dortmund, including superstars like Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, arrived in Vietnam early on Tuesday morning for a friendly match with the Vietnamese national team.
The Black and Yellows, who finished second at Germany’s top-tier football league Bundesliga in the 2021-22 season, traveled to Singapore and Malaysia before coming to Vietnam as part of their 10-day tour.
Their charter plane landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 1:45 am on Tuesday after they beat Malaysian champion Johor Darul Ta’zim 4-1 on Monday night.
Upon their arrival, the football club were welcomed by nearly 100 fans despite the early hours.
Borussia Dortmund brings 25 players, including big names like captain Marco Reus and center-back Mats Hummels, to Vietnam to play a friendly game with the Vietnamese national team at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.

Their squad also includes former professional footballers, who are legends of the team, such as goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller and defender Patrick Owomoyela.
The Vietnamese team are expected to make use of this chance as a preparation for the 2022 AFF Championship, which will take place in ten Southeast Asian host cities from December 20 to January 16, 2023.
Before Wednesday’s match, the Borussia Dortmund players are set to participate in many side activities such as learning how to make Vietnam’s most famous dish pho (noodle soup with beef or chicken), visiting Hanoi’s landmarks, and meeting with local students and supporters on Tuesday.
Their only practice is from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on the same day. It will be open and free for supporters.
