The 2022 ASEAN Food Festival is currently being held on Le Loi Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The festival showcases delicious dishes from well-known restaurants in ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Taking place from November 24 to 27 on the section of Le Loi Street from Pasteur Street to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, this event is the first public gathering on the street in seven years, as the construction of an underground station for the city’s first metro line had blocked it previously. The street was reopened to traffic at the end of August this year after the completion of construction. Vice-president of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Ho Xuan Lam, stated that the festival aims to introduce visitors to the diverse cuisine of ASEAN countries. The festival is expected to attract a large number of visitors who can enjoy cultural, artistic, and culinary activities. Businesses specializing in both restaurant-style and home cooking have been introduced by the consulates general of the ASEAN countries in Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the event, providing residents and tourists of Ho Chi Minh City an opportunity to savor delicious dishes at reasonable prices. The festival also includes artistic performances and cultural exchange activities, such as an ASEAN art performance night, programs that introduce the tea, wine, and coffee arts of different countries, street art gigs, and bartending performances. The event aims to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, especially ASEAN nations, and to welcome the fourth congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations in the 2022-27 tenure. This festival is part of a series of activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of ASEAN (1967-2022). For the latest news about Vietnam, please like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
