The Football Association of Thailand has not confirmed their attendance, according to Duong Nghiep Khoi, VFF’s general secretary.

FA Thailand is currently in search of an additional rival for the upcoming FIFA Days in September, which will take place from September 2nd to 10th, allowing for two rounds of matches.

As reported by the news site, Ball Thai Stand, Thailand is considering inviting Russia to play the first match before traveling to Vietnam.

Furthermore, the Thai media outlet mentioned that if Russia declines the invitation, Thailand might approach Panama as a potential opponent. Panama is the current champion of the 2022 AFF Cup, now known as the ASEAN Championship.

Other possible contenders for the friendly match include teams from Europe, offering a diverse range of potential matchups.

A friendly match between Vietnam and Thailand is highly anticipated and likely to occur. In the latest FIFA world rankings updated on June 20th, Vietnam ranked 116th, while Thailand secured the 100th spot.

Unfortunately, neither nation advanced to the third qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As a result, both teams are actively seeking friendly matches to optimize their performance in the upcoming 2024 ASEAN Championship, scheduled from November 23rd to December 21st.
