In a highly anticipated matchup, Vietnam and Thailand faced off in a thrilling semifinal showdown to determine the winners of Pool E. Both teams had already secured their spots in the semifinals, and tensions were high as they battled it out on the field.

Both teams demonstrated their skills and determination right from the start of the first set.

The initial round witnessed the host team securing a slim 12-9 advantage, followed by a 19-16 lead. However, Vietnam exhibited strong determination and managed to equalize the score at 22-22.

Vietnam impressively demonstrated strong form to claim victory in a tough first set, prevailing with a score of 25-23.

After losing one set, the Thailand team managed to make a comeback in the second set, quickly taking a narrow 5-4 lead. They then went on to secure victory by winning eight consecutive points.

The home team quickly established dominance with a commanding score of 14-5, ultimately extending the lead to 23-13. They ultimately closed out the set with a one-sided score of 25-14.

In a display of unwavering superiority, Thailand continued its commanding performance throughout the third and fourth sets, leaving no room for unexpected outcomes.

The loss of 1-3 has caused Vietnam, currently ranked 40th in the world, to drop to second place in Pool E.

The matchup scheduled for Tuesday (Vietnam time) at 3:00 pm involves the renowned Pool F champion, China, ranked fifth in the world.

The Pool E winner, Thailand, ranked 14th in the world, is scheduled to face off against defending champion Japan, currently positioned eighth globally, at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

The 2023 Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship is currently being held in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand from September 6th.

A total of fourteen teams took part in the competition, divided into four groups. Following the preliminary stage, twelve teams successfully advanced to the classification round.

The top three teams in the tournament will secure a place in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

In the past 20 editions of the event, China has consistently emerged as the most successful nation, securing a total of 13 titles. Meanwhile, Japan has achieved notable success with five victories, while Thailand has celebrated two wins.

Unfortunately, the 2021 edition of our event has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Republic of Vietnam has made significant strides in international competitions, garnering a commendable fifth-place finish in both 2015 and 2017.
