Vietnam retains its popularity as a top tourist destination in late 2023 – early 2024. According to the latest information, Hanoi and Hoi An are once again among the most sought-after vacation spots.

Hanoi has been ranked 90th overall in the latest ranking of the top 100 best cities in the world for 2024, making it the only Vietnamese city on the list, as reported by World’s Best Cities newswire.

In the first ten months of 2023, Vietnam’s total revenue from tourism reached an estimated 582.6 trillion VND (23.7 billion USD).

Experts say that while Hanoi may not be as bustling as Ho Chi Minh City, it offers a wide range of activities and attractions, from urban landmarks and bustling markets to awe-inspiring heritage structures such as the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a vibrant nightlife that has its own charm.

Vietnam is highly rated in the “Livability” category, ranking 61st, and the “Prosperity” category, ranking 184th.

Despite challenges in the global economy, the Vietnamese economy has shown resilience, with projected economic growth of 4.7% in the second half of the year.

The hospitality sector in Hanoi is expected to flourish, with more than 11,000 hotel rooms generated by 60 new projects. Among these are 61% five-star hotels, making the city ready to accommodate the world and attract more business travelers.

London ranked first on the list, topping both the “Livability” and “Lovability” categories in the UK.

A total of 20 Asian cities made it to the top 100 list, with Japan and China having the most representatives, including popular destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Saporro, Beijing, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

The Republic of Korea is represented by Seoul and Busan. Other Asian cities on the list are located in the UAE, Israel, Oman, Kuwait, and Thailand.

According to TripAdvisor, Vietnam is once again recognized as one of the “Top 10 fastest growing international destinations,” solidifying its appeal as a popular winter vacation destination in 2023.

Two famous destinations in Vietnam, Hoi An (ranked 6th) and Hanoi (ranked 7th), are praised by TripAdvisor. Hanoi, Vietnam’s more than 1,000-year-old capital, captivates visitors with its efforts to preserve the old town and its French colonial relics and architecture, alongside modern development. Hoi An, originally a popular destination for backpackers, is now famous for its attractive attractions. These include sacred pagodas, the most famous being the Cau Pagoda heritage, and the shimmering landscape of Hoi An under the light of lanterns on a full moon night, according to TripAdvisor.

Golden Bridge, a must-visit spot in Da Nang city.

In related news, the renowned American travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller has released its list of must-visit destinations for the year 2024. Da Nang city stands out as the sole representative of Vietnam among the top Asian destinations, offering an unforgettable experience for travelers.

Da Nang is the only Vietnamese city to make it to the top of the Asian destinations list, along with famous destinations such as Chinatown in Bangkok (Thailand), the Kathmandu Valley (Nepal), the Silk Road in Uzbekistan, Singapore, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka.
