Vietnam’s Weather Update (Jan 26): Cold Temperatures Persist in the North

On January 26th, Vietnam can expect a chilly and freezing weather forecast, accompanied by rainfall in the Northern region.

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, strong cold air has spread throughout the North, Central to South Central regions. Temperature levels in many places in the North, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have dropped below 10 degrees, in mountainous areas such as Mau Son (Lang Son) below 0 degrees, and especially in some places in the northern highland areas, ice has appeared.

Due to the influence of very strong cold air, the weather in the Northern and North Central regions continues to be extremely cold today. During this cold air wave, the lowest temperature in the North is commonly 8-10 degrees, in the Northern mountainous areas it is 3-6 degrees, and in the high mountains, there are places below 0 degrees.

In the area from Ha Tinh to Phu Yen, there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with heavy rain with rainfall of 20-30mm

The weather forecast in different regions

The Northwest region: The weather will be cloudy, with scattered light rain early in the morning and at night. In mountainous areas, there is a possibility of frost and snowfall. Lowest temperature: 7-10 degrees. In the high mountains, there are places below 0 degrees. Highest temperature: 11-14 degrees, in high mountainous areas there are places below 8 degrees.

The Northeast region: Cloudy, with scattered light rain early in the morning and at night. In mountainous areas, there is a possibility of frost and snowfall. Lowest temperature: 8-11 degrees. Highest temperature: 11-14 degrees, high mountainous areas with some places below 8 degrees.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue: The weather will be cloudy, with scattered light rain early in the morning and night in the North. In the North, the weather is bitterly cold. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds. Lowest temperature: North 9-12 degrees; South 13-16 degrees. Highest temperature: North 13-16 degrees; South 17-20 degrees.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan: Cloudy and rainy, with locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. Particularly in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, there are sunny days and scattered showers at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong winds. Lowest temperature: North 18-21 degrees; South 21-23 degrees. Highest temperature: North 22-25 degrees, South 29-32 degrees.

The Central Highlands: Cloudy and rainy during the day, with rain at night. Lowest temperature: 16-19 degrees. Highest temperature: 27-30 degrees.

The Southern region: Cloudy and sunny during the day, with rain at night. Northeast to east wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature: 22-25 degrees. Highest temperature: 30-33 degrees.

The weather forecast in big cities

Hanoi: Cloudy with scattered light rain early in the morning and night. The weather is extremely cold. Lowest temperature: 8-10 degrees. Highest temperature: 12-14 degrees.

Ho Chi Minh City: According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area has little rain, increased heat during the day, and sunshine. The temperature fluctuates between 33 – 35 degrees, up 1 degree compared to the previous day. Common relative humidity is 49 – 66%, cloud density is 21 – 46%.
