Diplomats Discuss Ways to Attract Qatar Investment to Vietnam
On the morning of October 9, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Vietnam Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel to take up his assignment in Vietnam.

Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his satisfaction with the positive progress of the bilateral friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar. The two countries frequently exchange delegations at various levels, including the recent official visit to Qatar by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan in May 2023. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel emphasized the importance of Vietnam as a valuable partner for Qatar in the Asia-Pacific region. He expressed his dedication to further enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two nations. Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel presented several significant initiatives that he intends to implement during his term to fulfill these commitments.

Minister Bui Thanh Son and Ambassador Ali Abdullah Abel had a constructive discussion on the progress of bilateral cooperation between their respective countries. While acknowledging the positive outcomes achieved so far, both parties recognized that there is still untapped potential for further advancement. As a result, they mutually agreed upon a series of targeted actions to enhance collaboration in the near future.

In their discussion, potential solutions were identified to enhance bilateral relations between Vietnam and Qatar. One proposed solution is to increase the exchange of high-level delegations, with priority given to the upcoming visit of Qatari King Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Thani in the fourth quarter of 2023. Additionally, strategies to strengthen trade promotion activities and foster connections among businesses from both countries were discussed.

Furthermore, the conversation highlighted the significance of attracting Qatari investment funds to participate in key sectors such as oil and gas projects, renewable energy, infrastructure, and electric cars in Vietnam. Another area of potential collaboration identified was in agricultural projects and the Halal industry, emphasizing the prospect of exploring opportunities for cooperation.

Lastly, the discussion focused on the importance of enhancing tourism and attracting highly skilled workers to further enhance the ties between Vietnam and Qatar.
