Nguyen Ngoc Hung presented the Certificate of Merit to Room to Read in Vietnam (RtR) in recognition of their contributions. This award coincided with the organization’s 20th anniversary in Vietnam.

“Currently, there are very few foreign non-governmental organizations (FNGOs) focusing on promoting a reading culture for children. RtR is one of those organizations and has been doing a great job. We hope that RtR will continue to actively work in this area. VUFO and PACCOM are committed to supporting and collaborating with RtR to enhance the practicality, efficiency, and success of its operations,” said Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of VUFO.

RtR Vietnam, under the leadership of Nguyen Dieu Nuong, has published over 200 books and established more than 2,000 libraries nationwide. Furthermore, RtR has successfully introduced model libraries to different localities, including essential equipment, management systems, and extensive documentation. The organization aims to replicate this elementary school-friendly library model throughout Vietnam to ensure every elementary school student has access to a well-functioning library.

“RtR is also developing a program to enhance the listening and speaking skills of vulnerable and disadvantaged students, particularly those from ethnic minority backgrounds. We hope that, when implemented, this program will contribute to improving the educational conditions for these children,” Ms. Nguyen Dieu Nuong, National Director of RtR Vietnam, added.
