Promoting cultural cooperation, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges is one of the main contents in the joint declaration on upgrading Vietnam – United States relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. How was this content mentioned during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s recent business trip to the United States and what effect did it bring?
During his visit to the United States, the Prime Minister mentioned development and cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism.
These contents deepen our Party’s viewpoint of placing culture on an economic and social level and bringing Vietnamese culture to major international events.
There are many contents that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to coordinate and cooperate with US partners to implement.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism designed and organized a number of cultural activities in the United States, notably the photo exhibition about the country and people of Vietnam – the process of innovation and integration.
Thereby, American friends better understand the developing country of Vietnam and are ready to cooperate for mutual development.
The Ministry also organized an art program to introduce Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity. We feel excited because this event attracts politicians and people of the United States, contributing to the success of the Prime Minister’s visit.
As for the Prime Minister’s working visit to Brazil, what highlights did the cultural cooperation and exchange activities create?
During the talks and meetings of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Brazil, cultural cooperation, sports, and tourism were all mentioned as one of the focuses.
This showed that the Party and State are focusing on the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to bring Vietnamese culture to world friends and absorb the world’s cultural quintessence to build a diverse Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
In another aspect, this also placed responsibility on the agencies in charge of the culture, sports, and tourism fields of the two countries. We will build and present a specific cooperation plan to develop culture in the coming time.
Implementing the Prime Minister’s direction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism brought a number of performances and art forms imbued with Vietnamese identity to guests and the Brazilian public. This activity spread Vietnamese culture, bringing our unique features to international events.

Notably, the exhibition about President Ho Chi Minh, the country, and the people of Vietnam, and the art program with the theme “Vietnam – Colors” hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are two outstanding highlights in the event “Vietnamese Cultural Days in Brazil.”
The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Portrait of a Person” displays nearly 200 photos, documents, and portraits of the great leader of the Vietnamese people.
The exhibition introduced to the Brazilian people President Ho Chi Minh, a hero of national liberation, and an outstanding cultural celebrity, who devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation and unification.
He contributed to the common struggle of peoples around the world for peace, national independence, democracy, and social progress.
The exhibition also introduces the culture, history, country, and people of Vietnam, and the achievements in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland that the Vietnamese people gained under the leadership of the Party.

With rich and unique performances, the art program “Vietnam – Colors” brought Vietnamese culture to the audience.
To show the good friendship between the two countries, Vietnamese artists also performed Brazilian music with traditional Vietnamese musical instruments.
I think we organized meaningful activities to celebrate the traditional friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil, promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples.
This contributed to strengthening cooperation in all fields, including the pillars of cultural, sports, and tourism cooperation, helping bilateral relations become more in-depth, substantive, and effective.
