On August 7, 2016 Vietnamese sports enthusiasts held their breath  while watching Vietnamese marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Their happiness came when the 41-year-old marksman made his near-perfect final shot to  secure a gold in the men’s 10m air pistol event, becoming the first Vietnamese to win an Olympic gold medal.
