Readers are invited to browse over 50,000 books by Vietnamese and foreign authors on a wide range of topics at a book fair currently taking place in Paris Square.

The fair features 42 stalls hosted by 31 of the city’s leading publishers and book distributors.

Additionally, the publishers and distributors will be utilizing the live-streaming platform TikTok to promote and sell books during the event, with the aim of reaching a broader audience of readers nationwide.

The fair also introduces local apps Fonos and Voiz FM, which offer a vast selection of audiobooks and e-books.

There will be a special exhibition showcasing publications and documents commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – 2024) and the 1954 Geneva Accords.

A roundtable discussion on fostering a love of reading will be held at the book fair on April 20th.

On April 22nd, there will be a talk on the growth of audiobooks.

A book signing and discussion with Japanese author Ono Eriko, known for her popular manga series “Hai, Mikko!”, will take place on April 21st.

“Hai, Mikko!”, which features humorous and heartwarming stories about an elementary school girl named Mikko, has gained a large following among Vietnamese children.

On April 22nd, there will be a roundtable discussion on Vietnamese cuisine from the perspective of young people at the Book Street.

In addition to the main events downtown, the city will also be hosting book launches, book clubs, and talks at Thu Duc City Book Street, cultural centers, and schools in 21 districts to promote reading habits within the community.

The annual Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, which was first held in 2022, has become a highly anticipated event for book enthusiasts, fostering a love of reading and the appreciation of literature within the community.
