Leaders of Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism say the program is an opening activity for a series of events and festivals to be held in the locality, adding that it has contributed to elevating destinations in Hue city, unique tourism products, and building tourism brands “Hue – Festival City”, “Hue – Culinary Capital”, and “Hue – Ao Dai Capital” to both domestic and foreign customers.
2023 witnessed a strong recovery of the tourism industry with an impressive rebound in the number of international tourists returning to Vietnam and Thua Thien Hue in particular.
Last year, Thua Thien Hue received a series of awards from a number of organizations, magazines, and international tourism information channels as a contribution to promoting Thua Thien Hue destinations and tourism products regionally and globally, and attracting more potential international tourists.
In 2023, Thua Thien Hue received 3.2 million visitors, up 56% compared to 2022. Notably, the number of international visitors increased sharply with 1.2 million visitors, up 361% compared to 2020.
Revenue from tourism is estimated to reach VND6,606 billion, fulfilling the 2023 target. The top 10 tourist markets coming to Hue this year include Taiwan (China), Thailand, America, Malaysia, France, UK, Australia, Germany, Spain, and the Republic of Korea. In 2024, the tourism industry of Thua Thien Hue province strives to welcome about 3.5 – 4 million visitors, of which domestic tourists account for about 60-70% with total revenue from tourism grossing between VND 7,000 billion and VND8,000 billion.
