Lao President and General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith hosts an official welcoming ceremony for Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam and his delegation in Vientiane on December 1, symbolizing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

During their bilateral talks, both leaders agree to elevate Vietnam-Laos relations to a new height, characterized by ‘Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic connectivity.’ They also commit to enhancing connectivity in infrastructure, economy, finance, and tourism, aiming for a trade target of US$5 billion in the near future.

Following their discussions, the two leaders witness the signing of 12 significant cooperation agreements between various ministries, sectors, and agencies of both countries, covering key areas such as defense, security, health, justice, education, finance, and strategic infrastructure.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith bestows the National Gold Order, Laos’ highest honor, upon General Secretary To Lam, recognizing his significant contributions to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

In a meeting with Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane, General Secretary To Lam proposes initiatives to enhance parliamentary relations, focusing on institutional and legal frameworks, supreme oversight, and decision-making on national issues. During his meeting with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, General Secretary To Lam emphasizes the importance of strengthening political trust, maintaining high-level exchanges, and promoting practical economic cooperation. Addressing the National Academy of Politics and Public Administration on December 1, General Secretary To Lam reaffirms the deep-rooted friendship and strategic solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, emphasizing its vital role in the sustainable development of both nations.
