THE HANOI TIMES — In a significant move to bolster brand protection, ensure product traceability, and foster rural development through sustainable practices, Hanoi has officially granted collective trademark rights to Khai Thai chicken eggs.
This initiative aligns with Hanoi‘s broader strategy to safeguard local specialties and strengthen rural branding, ensuring that unique regional products receive the recognition and protection they deserve.
The Phu Xuan Agricultural Cooperative, situated in Khai Thai Commune, Phu Xuyen District, has been entrusted with the responsibility of registering and managing this collective trademark.

The trademark registration is categorized under Classes 29 (animal-derived food products) and 35 (trading services) of the Nice Agreement, an international classification system that standardizes the categorization of goods and services globally.
As the custodian of this trademark, the Phu Xuan Cooperative is tasked with developing comprehensive legal documents, management protocols, and enforcement mechanisms to ensure strict adherence to Vietnam’s intellectual property laws, thereby maintaining the integrity of the brand.
The trademark is designed to embody the cooperative’s and local community’s aspirations, emphasizing the superior quality of products marketed under the “Khai Thai Chicken Eggs” brand.
To safeguard the brand’s reputation, authorities have issued a stern warning against any misuse of the ‘Khai Thai’ name. Unauthorized use for personal gain, illegal transfers, or alterations to certification or geographical indication formats may lead to the revocation of naming rights.
Nguyen Trong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Phu Xuyen District People’s Committee, highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative. “This trademark not only elevates Khai Thai eggs’ market presence but also strengthens production-consumption partnerships with businesses and distribution networks, both within and beyond the capital,” he stated.
Khai Thai’s commitment to clean and organic chicken production methods has solidified its reputation as a leader in sustainable agriculture.
