This year marks the fifth edition of the Day of Pho after Tuoi Tre initiated the event in 2017.

It is organized by Tuoi Tre in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, with sponsorship from Acecook Vietnam JSC.

At the 2021 Day of Pho Gala, Tuoi Tre Editor-in-Chief Le The Chu stated that the event aims to promote pho – a unique treasure of the Vietnamese culinary culture – to the world.

After five years, the Day of Pho has come a long way, especially when this year’s event is marked by Google Doodles in 20 countries, Chu continued.

“This achievement is the result of the joint efforts of the event’s organizing board, its partners, and most importantly, all people who love the Vietnamese pho,” he remarked.

Nguyen Quoc Ky, president of the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, thanked Tuoi Tre for coming up with this initiative, as well as pho lovers for helping the dish become internationally famous.

The 2021 Day of Pho was kicked-started with the final of the competition to search for Vietnam’s best pho chefs and brands.

The preliminary round of this contest was previously held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 20 and Hanoi on November 28.

Winners are to be honored with the ‘Hoa Hoi Vang’ awards.
