The Vietnam Bakery Cup (VNBC) 2024 commenced on Wednesday at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7, attracting competitors from Vietnam and several other countries, including China, Malaysia, and South Korea.
This event is organized by the Vietnam Bakery Association (VNBA) and the Saigon Professional Chefs’ Guild (SPC), with support from prominent culinary organizations: the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs) and the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners.
According to the organizers, the competition, extending until Saturday, serves as a prestigious platform for artistic baking, allowing participants to showcase their talents and expert skills.
As reported by Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper, all contestants are esteemed professionals in the culinary field, comprising pastry chefs, cooks, and sculptors, who hold the title of master chefs conferred by Worldchefs.
The performance of competitors will be evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges, comprising both Vietnamese and international experts with extensive experience in international bakery competitions.
Tran Thi Hien Minh, vice president of SPC, highlighted that this competition is a landmark event for Vietnam, adhering to international standards, and the winner will advance to represent the country on a global stage.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, emphasized the significance of this international-level pastry chef competition, underscoring how it illuminates and fosters the cultural and economic importance of Vietnam’s pastry industry.

As reported by Nhan Dan (People) newspaper, this event also significantly contributes to the advancement of both the pastry sector and the overall landscape of Vietnamese cuisine.
Kao Sieu Luc, general director of Asia Bakery Confectionery Joint Stock Company (ABC), acknowledged the resilience of Vietnam’s bakery industry, which has sustained growth in 2024 despite global economic challenges. He attributed this success partly to the innovative spirit of young entrepreneurs who have infused the market with small yet creative bakeries, meeting the diverse and demanding tastes of consumers.
The Taipei Bakery Association recognizes Vietnam as one of the most promising bakery markets in Southeast Asia. This potential is further emphasized by the Hong Kong Business Association Vietnam, which notes that “the Vietnamese confectionery market exhibits an impressive annual growth rate of 10.17%, indicating substantial development prospects, with a steadily increasing demand for baked goods that offer novel, unique flavors and superior quality.”
The VNBC 2024 is strategically organized as part of the Vietnam International Bakery Show (VIBS) 2024, concurrently taking place at SECC. This bakery exhibition is hosted by VNBA and the Taipei Bakery Association, with the collaboration of ABC and support from the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association, along with the Vietnam Dairy Association.
With nearly 200 booths representing 120 domestic and international brands, the VIBS 2024 aims to foster trade and establish a robust and respected business platform for Vietnam’s bakery industry, as articulated by the organizers.
