The administration of Dong Thap has organized 18 activities before, during, and after the event, including a story-writing contest, a children’s drawing competition, a photography contest, an exhibition showcasing mango products and local specialties from Dong Thap, as well as familiarization trips to mango farming areas.

The festival, taking place right at the time of the main mango harvest, includes two seminars featuring discussions on measures to enhance the value and promote the sustainable growth of the province’s mango farming and tourism sectors.

Speaking at Friday’s ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized the importance of cooperation among farmers, applications of technology, staying up-to-date on market news, and maintaining hygienic production for the growth of the mango business in Dong Thap.

Mango is one of the six major agricultural staples grown in Dong Thap, with a total farming area of more than 14,000 hectares.

Around 250 farming regions in the province have been granted licenses to export their fruit to China. This is a major step forward for local farmers, who now have the opportunity to reach a far larger market and increase their profits.

Thousands of people from different localities across Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region attended the opening ceremony of the 2023 Mango Festival in Cao Lanh City of Dong Thap Province on Friday evening.
