“Initially, I could not find the appropriate yeast for brewing, so the yeast failed to grow, leading to the release of 3,000 liters of decaying oil,” said Tran Quoc Trong, a teacher of Tran Phu Middle School in Ward 7, Tan An City under Long An Province, southern Vietnam.

Due to the failure, my family urged me to give up. But it was at that moment that I truly understood how hard it was to put theoretical knowledge into practice. Despite the setback, I was determined to keep trying until I achieved success.

To create a useful product from theory, we must often start from scratch. By learning the fundamentals of the concept, we can apply the theory and bring our ideas to life. With an understanding of the fundamentals, we can then build upon our initial knowledge and refine our product until it meets our expectations.

“As such, I believed that each product could only be successful at one stage, so I never gave up.”

One Thursday at the beginning of this year, Trong had another teacher take over his physics and chemistry classes so he could stay at home and prepare for the acceptance of a pilot project to produce high-quality dragon fruit seed oil. This project had been signed off on by a company jointly founded by Trong and the Long An Department of Science and Technology.

His home is located in Long Tri Commune, Chau Thanh District, an area renowned for being the decades-old heart of the southwestern dragon fruit kingdom.

Enhance Your Beauty with Dragon Fruit Seed-Infused Lipsticks and Skin Creams

Dragon fruit seeds are a surprisingly versatile and powerful ingredient for creating beauty products. From lipsticks to skin creams, dragon fruit seed-infused beauty products can help you look and feel your best.

The unique properties of these dragon fruit seeds help nourish and protect skin and lips. They contain antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that help to maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance and keep it looking healthy and youthful. Plus, the seed oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores.

Dragon fruit seed lipsticks provide full coverage and lasting color. They are highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and they won’t dry out your lips like some other lipsticks. The seed oil also helps to lock in moisture and keep lips hydrated.

Dragon fruit seed skin creams are great for all skin types. They are light and easily absorbed, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth. The seed oil helps to lock in moisture and nourish the skin, while the antioxidants provide protection from environmental stressors.

Whether you’re looking for a bold lip color or a nourishing skin cream, dragon fruit seed-infused products are the perfect way to enhance your beauty.

At a fair held within the framework of the Tourism Week of Long An Province in Tan An, Trong gifted these products to participants.

The bottles of essential oil, skin cream, and lipsticks made from dragon fruit seeds were first introduced to residents, sparking curiosity and wonder.

Although dragon fruit oil still has a slightly greasy smell of seeds and is less fragrant than other kinds of essential oils such as grapefruit and melaleuca, overall, it is really pleasing. Trong laughed and honestly commented on his new product, adding that he is working to further improve its scent.

Many fair-goers offered to buy skin cream boxes, red and pink lipsticks, while more than 20 products on display were presented by Trong.

At the time, the 46-year-old teacher had products that were not registered for codes and designs, but they still met the criteria of the technology transfer project and were certified accordingly.

It was during this period that the price of dragon fruit drastically decreased due to the export difficulties caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, every ton of peeled dragon fruits only yields about 20 kilograms of seeds.

While many dragon fruit growers abandoned their farms and sold them, Trong and his wife refused to give up. They persevered and, through careful refinement, were able to extract more than one ton of seeds from the dragon fruit. They then dried the seeds to create essential oil, skin cream, and lipsticks. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to their dedication and passion for their craft.

Trong’s lipstick, skin cream, and essential oil products made from dragon fruit seeds were popular among participants of the Culture and Tourism Week exhibition in Long An Province. The products were praised for their high quality and attractive packaging. The special ingredients used in the products helped to contribute to their success. Participants were also impressed by the company’s commitment to using sustainable materials and practices. The products were seen as a great way to celebrate local culture and support local businesses. A photo of the exhibition was captured by Son Lam for Tuoi Tre.

Pursuit of groundbreaking experimental science without compromise

Growing up in Tan Tru District, Long An, Trong only came into contact with dragon fruit when he married and moved in with his in-laws in Long Tri Commune, nearly 20 years ago. Rice had been the only crop cultivated in the area where he grew up.

Ten years ago, the cultivation of dragon fruit in Long An saw a significant expansion, and the fruit began to gradually replace rice as the area’s primary agricultural product.

Trong decided to pioneer creating numerous kinds of drinks from dragon fruit and beefing up the consumption of the fruit that replaced the rice in Chau Thanh District, after taking part in a discussion on how to ramp up the output, plus his chemical knowledge in everyday teaching at school.

Following the success of making drinks from dragon fruit, Trong continued to delve into researching and creating drinks made from mango, passion fruit, cocoa, and pineapple, all of which could potentially be sold on the market. His dedication to discovering new and exciting flavor combinations has proved to be a winning formula, as the drinks have become incredibly popular with consumers.

Whenever struggling with a new product, he tried to rearrange his teaching schedule to visit many places to discover new technologies in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, and An Giang Province.

As a result, he has been supported by a variety of domestic and international companies and organizations in terms of both funding and technology.

With extended relationships and newborn products, Trong has one more important message to share with his students: that of innovation, creativity, and taking initiative.

He has never forgotten his students and his role as a teacher, even though his passion for organic products continues to this day.

“I achieved success in creating these products due to the teachings in textbooks,” the instructor declared.

Students understand that I am capable of assisting them in their learning journey, and they are eager to absorb all the knowledge they can. As a result, they are obedient and motivated to put in the effort to learn more.

Sometimes I believe that if I didn’t work as a teacher, I might not have the fortitude to overcome difficult tasks and complete projects.

At our store, we strive to provide customers with useful products that solve their problems. We believe in offering solutions that are practical and offer real value. We strive to provide not only quality products, but ones that are both cost-effective and efficient. Our goal is to help our customers find the solutions they need to make their lives easier. We take pride in offering products that are reliable, durable, and easy to use. With a focus on useful products, we are sure to have something for everyone.

Trong’s company has more than 10 permanent employees. With a wide variety of products, dragon fruit is fully-utilized at his plant.

“Their skin and discarded parts are being composted to make natural fertilizer,” Trong affirmed confidently.

I am working on an ambitious project to produce microbial fertilizer from dragon fruit peels, and I’m pleased to say that I have secured the support of an investor. If this project is successful, every part of the dragon fruit could be turned into a marketable product.

During his years of tinkering with research, Trong said that all the products he pursued had to be useful and beneficial, enabling the abundance of farm produce in Vietnam to be consumed more efficiently.

“In principle, a process can produce many varied results; however, I typically keep my focus on the task at hand,” remarked Trong. “This is a common issue faced by those who have a strong interest in research and experimentation.”

Whenever Trong sees an opportunity to make commercial products, he carefully studies the needs of customers before attempting to create them. By doing this, Trong is able to ensure that the products he produces are tailored to meet customers’ exact needs. This approach has enabled him to develop highly successful commercial products that have been well-received by customers.

Apart from continuing to make dragon fruit products to expand their reach, Trong is planning a new project. This endeavor will build on their existing capabilities and help them reach even more customers. By employing a combination of traditional and modern methods, they are looking to create a unique and memorable experience for their customers. They aim to create a product that stands out in the market and that customers will come back to purchase again. With this new project, Trong is positioned to become a leader in the dragon fruit industry.

“If you want to expand production,” he stated, “you must have strong financial health.”

I have been granted permission to carry out a project to restore jute cultivation in Thanh Hoa District, Long An Province. This project will be a great benefit to the local economy and the environment, as jute is a renewable, sustainable crop. The aim of the project is to improve soil quality, increase crop yields, and provide a better livelihood for local farmers. We will work closely with the local government and communities to ensure the project is successful. We will also collaborate with research institutions to develop innovative cultivation techniques that are adapted to this region’s climate and soil. Through the project, we aim to reduce poverty and offer sustainable farming solutions that benefit farmers and protect the environment.

This land used to be a jute area in the past.

Weak consumption of jute has caused farmers to turn to other crops, but they have encountered numerous difficulties in the process. From finding adequate land to adjust to alternative farming methods and the market demand, farmers have had to overcome a myriad of challenges in order to make the switch. Furthermore, the lack of access to resources such as agricultural loans, modern farming equipment, and quality seeds has also posed a major obstacle to successful crop rotation. Ultimately, the switch to other crops has been a difficult journey for farmers, but one that is necessary to ensure their continued livelihood.

When implemented, my project will have a tremendous impact on the community. It will bring a multitude of benefits, from improved quality of life to increased economic growth. The results of this project will be far-reaching and long-lasting, making it an invaluable asset to the people it serves.
