On September 23, the National Council for Film Selection chose ‘ Dao, Pho, and Piano,’ produced with funding from Vietnam’s national budget, to represent the country in the Oscars’ pre-qualification round.

Directed by Phi Tien Son, the movie draws inspiration from a 60-day battle to defend Hanoi, which took place in late 1946 and continued into early 1947.

The film made its debut at the National Cinema Center in Hanoi, coinciding with the 2024 Lunar New Year celebrations.

With a three-month theatrical run, it grossed VND20.8 billion ($840,460) at the Vietnamese box office.
