The bilingual book in Vietnamese and Spanish titled “Fidel Castro – Vi Viet Nam, nguyen hien dang ca mau! Fidel Castro – Nuestra Sangre Por Vietnam” (Fidel Castro: Our blood for Vietnam) has been published to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s visit to Vietnam. This book serves as a reminder of his famous declaration, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood.”
In 1973, Fidel became the first and only world leader to visit Quang Tri, a newly liberated area in South Vietnam, despite the dangers posed by American bombings.
The book, published by Cuba’s Prensa Latina News Agency, features a collection of articles and photographs documenting Fidel’s visit, with many contributions from the Vietnam News Agency.
The articles in the book are written by experienced journalists from Prensa Latina who have worked in Hanoi, including Gustavo Robreno Dolz, Moisés Pérez Mok, Jesus Martí Díaz, and Alberto Salazar.
This 76-page book aims to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the context and preparations surrounding Fidel’s visit to Quang Tri. Despite the ongoing devastation caused by bombs and bullets, Fidel was determined to visit the recently liberated region in South Vietnam.
Readers will gain insight into Fidel’s special affection for Vietnam, its people, and President Ho Chi Minh.
On this occasion, the Vietnam News Agency Publishing House also introduced another book about the Cuban leader titled “Fidel Castro – Huyen thoai xuyen the ky” (Fidel Castro – A Legend through Centuries). This book is a collection of articles and writings about Fidel Castro, compiled, selected, and translated by veteran journalist Pham Dinh Loi.
