The sheep parade is set to take place in Muoi Sau Thang Tu Square, Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, starting at 5:00 pm on Thursday.

This event is part of the ‘Ninh Thuan Cuisine Festival – Welcome the New Year 2024’ program, according to the event organizers.

During the parade, which will last for an hour, locals and tourists will have the opportunity to take photos with the sheep. The sheep will be dressed in Christmas and New Year-themed clothing.

Ha Nguyen Huy Hau, a resident of Ninh Hai District, Ninh Thuan Province, stated that his family has chosen the 50 most beautiful sheep for the parade.

“We are taking good care of them to ensure they have excellent fleece,” Hau said.

To ensure a clean and organized event, the organizers have decided to feature approximately 300 sheep, rather than the initially planned 1,000, according to Nguyen Van Hoa, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The selected sheep come from different districts and cities within the province, including Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Hai, Thuan Bac, Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Nam, and Bac Ai. Each district and city has contributed 50 sheep.

“Before being transported to Muoi Sau Thang Tu Square, the sheep will be washed and decorated,” Hoa said.

“This is the first time Ninh Thuan is organizing a sheep parade, and it will be a highlight to attract both domestic and foreign visitors to celebrate the New Year 2024.”

Visitors can also participate in street art activities and games.

Nguyen Long Bien, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, stated that the program aims to promote the province’s tourism and develop its cuisine.
