Ho Chi Minh City café encourages customers to recycle
A coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City has been encouraging its customers to live green by offering drink discounts to whoever brings recycled material to the venue.
Located on Than Van Nhiep Street in District 2, this is the second recycling coffee shop owned by Nguyen Van Tho, following the successful debut of his first venue in Hanoi.
Tho decided to open his second café after a recent visit to Ho Chi Minh City, during which he noticed that many local coffee shops were overusing plastic material.

“I want to join hands with citizens of the southern metropolis in recycling plastic material and spreading environmental protection messages,” he stated.
Together with other young environmentalists, Tho has turned old tires, doors, plastic bottles, glass objects, and used electronics into tables, chairs, chandeliers, plant pots, and various types of decorations at his café.
The coffee shop attracts not only adults but also young children, as Tho and his business partner, Trang Gegner, often organize events to teach the kids how to create regular objects using recycled material.

“This is a great place for my child to become more creative as well as learning how to protect the environment,” Ngo Van Cuong, a customer said.
The café also offers discounts on drinks to customers who bring along such recycled material as plastic bottles, plastic cups, or used shoes.
These objects would then be used to decorate the shop or given to recycling groups in the city and other localities.
