During a press conference held on October 26 in Hanoi, Le Thi Quynh Trang, president of Vietnam International Fashion Week (VIFW), announced that the event will open with the theme of “Shaping the Future” and aims to recognize designs that utilize environmentally-friendly materials.
The 16th edition of the event will feature a total of 16 international and Vietnamese designers and fashion brands.
Fashion brand Leisure Project from Thailand and designer Priyo Oktaviano from Indonesia will join Vietnamese colleagues such as Cao Minh Tien, Thao Nguyen, Le Minh Ngoc, and Nguyen Thanh Danh in showcasing their new collections to the local audience.
Their collections follow sustainable fashion trends, which means that the supply, production, and consumption of fashion products are designed to ensure environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
In particular, the fashion week will feature the return of designer Xuan Thu Nguyen, who is the first Vietnamese designer to be invited by France’s Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion to participate in the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.
Moreover, young designer Phan Dang Hoang, who made a positive impression at Milan Fashion Week with a collection inspired by ancient craft villages in Vietnam, will also participate in the event.
Designer Vu Viet Ha will kick off AVIFW Autumn/Winter 2023 with a silk collection. The closing ceremony will then showcase stunning romantic designs by Adrian Anh Tuan.
The Vietnam International Fashion Week was first held in 2014 and quickly became the leading fashion event in ASEAN, ranking fourth in Asia after Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai fashion weeks.
